The A2 Pumas will be coaching a youth wrestling class for beginners ages 7 to 15 at the Ann Arbor YMCA from Feb 25 to Apr 21, 2013 on Fridays from 4:30 to 5:30 pm. The class will be instructed by our experienced Pumas wrestlers and supervised by the Pumas coaches. Please contact the Ann Arbor YMCA for more information (400 W. Experienced wrestlers ages 7 to 15 who would like to compete in tournaments and anyone 16 years of age or older (beginning or experienced) are welcome to join the Ann Arbor Pumas Wrestling Club. Please see the "Membership" page of this website for information on joining the Club and the "Contact / Location" page for more information.

The Pumas will practice on Thurs Jan 24th from 4:30 pm to 6:00 pm. We will not practice on our normal day of Wed, since the Pioneer High team will be using the room on Wed Jan 23rd.

The first practice for our A2 Pumas competitors (who plan to compete in tournaments) in 2013 will be Fri, Jan. 11th from 6:15 pm to 7:45 pm at the Pioneer High School wrestling room.

The Pumas will practice twice a week on Wed (4:30 pm to 6:00 pm) and Fri (6:15 pm to 7:45 pm). The Calendar on our website will contain our entire and latest schedule (practices, events, and competition). Please check the Calendar frequently as there may be event / practice changes, additions, and cancellations.

The A2 Pumas will be attending a special wrestling event at the Cliff Keen Center on Jan 18, 2013. The top high school wrestling programs in Michigan, St. John's and Catholic Central, will meet at 4:00 pm, followed by the Univ. of Michigan vs. the Univ. of Iowa at 7:00 pm.

The University of Michigan Wrestling team is offering a variety of wrestling camps this summer (see http://www.michiganwrestlingcamps.org/). For any A2 Pumas member who is serious about becoming a better wrestler, this is a great opportunity right in our back yard. Please let the coaches know (a2pumas dot info at gmail dot com) the camp you are interested in attending, so that we can register as a group and qualify for a discount. The A2 Pumas visited a special session of the Cliff Keen Wrestling Club as they prepared for the 2012 U.S. Olympic Wrestling Trials. It was a fantastic opportunity for our wrestlers to watch the elite wresters of Cliff Keen (including Jake Herbert, Tyrel Todd, Josh Churella, Mike Poeta, Jimmy Kennedy, Andrew Howe, and Kellen Russell) during intense, live wrestling matches. The Pumas also had the privilege of being addressed by Joe McFarland (UM Wrestling Head Coach), Sean Bormet (UM Wrestling Asst. Coach and Cliff Keen Coach), Andy Hrovat (Cliff Keen Coach), and Jake Herbert (2012 Olympian). The following emails were received from Coaches McFarland and Bormet after our visit.

The Ann Arbor Pumas had a fantastic time at the Saline Tournament. All of our wrestlers put in their best effort and the results were consistent with their hard work. Thank you very much to all of the coaches (Jake Peck, Mike Huspen, and Share Wireman) for spending the better part of Sunday helping the wrestlers and keeping everything working smoothly and to the parents for supporting their children and the team and contributing to our pot luck meal. The A2 Pumas Wrestling Club is now a member club of the Michigan Youth Wrestling Association ("MYWAY"). MYWAY sponsors most of the youth (non-interscholastic) folkstyle wrestling tournaments in Michigan. We will be posting information on the upcoming MYWAY tournaments in the Eastern region (which includes Washtenaw County and Ann Arbor). The University Michigan wrestling program will host its final clinic of the 2011-12 season prior to its Indiana dual meet on Friday, Jan. 13. The free clinic will run from 5-6 p.m. at Cliff Keen Arena. Full details, including featured clinicians, will be announced soon.

We have been invited to attend a free wrestling clinic hosted by the University of Michigan wrestling program on Sunday, December 11, from 11:30AM - 1:00PM @ Cliff Keen Arena. Participants will get free admission & food voucher to the Michigan vs Wisconsin dual meet at 2:00PM, immediately following the clinic. Video cameras will be permitted.

This is an opportunity to learn from outstanding wrestlers and to meet the UM coaches, staff, and wrestlers. The dual meet after the clinic will also be a fun and exciting time for our team.
